Life + Star Sapphire + Road Trips = The Moment You've All Been Waiting For

I was really on a blogging roll there...until about September.   Life becomes completely accelerated and manic after September.  Some of you would argue that October is relatively safe, but you'd be wrong.  I blink and October-December has vanished, but I know it happened because I'm so tired I want to sleep through January and February.

In the post holiday daze Austin and I were watching some movies we hadn't seen in a while. We pulled out The Green Lantern.  During one of the scenes with Hal and Carol (his love interest) I had this flash to a Green Lantern cartoon where Carol, who has become the super villain Star Sapphire (yep, you guessed it, the relationship ended badly), is trapped in a mine and Green Lantern is saving her.  

N:  Didn't Carol Ferris become a bad guy?
A:  Yes, Star Sapphire.
N:  Isn't there a cartoon where she gets stuck in a mine and he has to save her?
A:  Hmmm.....oh yeah...that sounds familiar.  I must have been watching that with you.
N:  No honey, I must have been watching that with you. 

Somehow I don't think I would have picked that one at the RedBox.


We spent Thanksgiving in Arizona with at my sister-in-law's house.  It was so fun to have all the Thorpes there.  We did the 9 hour drive in one day with Calvin.  He was actually really good and the trip was as pleasant as a 9 hour car ride could be.  The drive takes us through lots of middle-of-nowhere towns and stretches of desolate desert.  Once in a while there is a random building that pops up.  Each time we saw a building surrounded by nothing Austin would observe:
A:  Who builds something here? 
N:  I don't know.
A:  What could you possibly need that you would choose to put right here?
N:  I don't know.
A:  Well, just think.  I mean, there is absolutely NOTHING else out here, who works in that building? 
N:  I don't know.
A:  I bet whoever decided to put that building there got fired.
N:  I don't know.
I mean the man has a point....I just don't know the details.

Now for the moment you have all been waiting for!!  Because I know you sit around at home discussing with the people in your life when the Thorpes are going to have another baby.  Now you can be the first in your circle of friends to know the answer.  Baby Thorpe #2 is scheduled to arrive in July.  Feel free to clap, or wave your foam finger.  If its a boy we will be unveiling a San Diego Padre nursery.  If its a girl, well, we'll come up with something, but it won't be a Star Sapphire nursery.
