Life + food coloring + ironing = culinary triumph

Today after Austin left I was tidying our house when suddenly something felt very out of place. It was that same feeling I have when I finish a 500 piece puzzle, only to discover I'm missing two pieces...all I can see are those two blank holes, regardless of the fact that the other 498 are accounted for. Finally I realized what it was....the ironing board. There was no ironing board taking up half my office. You see Austin irons his clothes every morning, and he always leaves the iron and ironing board out because the iron is still hot. Putting it away after I get up is just part of my routine. Its like a small piece of Austin is still at home with me, ya know the piece of him that irons his jeans :) He must have put it away before he left.

When he came home tonight I told him not to do that anymore.

Now for the best part of the day...I made fortune cookies. All by myself. They turned out fabulous, and just because I could I dyed them fun colors...I even did a tie dye one. Move over Bobby Flay, there's a new culinary genius in town. Granted I burned all my fingers and used every dish we own, but I was so proud of myself. So proud in fact that I went outside and made my neighbor come over to see them. I was just glowing! You would have thought I had just given birth to those fortune cookies, but no, I baked them....with my own two hands!! Triumph.
Take that world.

  2. Sorry, I was trying to change something I wrote in my comment, and I deleted it. You'd think I'd have this blogging thing all figured out...
