Today was "Austin and Nicole Day", we have it two or three times a year. Its a day when neither of us have anything so we do a super all day date. I typed up an itinerary last night and we went nuts. So this morning we went down to Temple Square to walk around. While we were driving I put in a random mix CD and began to dance to "Lets Get Ready to Rumble". Austin gets embarassed when I car dance. I'm quite animated and use lots of arms. So he tells me to keep my arms low so no one will see them flailing as they pass us. This is funny because while we talk, I dance, and when my arms creep too high Austin will insert "arms down please" into the middle of whatever sentence he is working on, for example:
"I've never had an official tour of the--arms down please--church history library, maybe we should start there."
Who says opposites don't attract??
Later this evening we stopped by Target to let our dinner digest and we purused the t-shirt section. Its hard for Austin to find t-shirts because he will only wear t-shirts with very high and narrow collars, he hates lose collars. So as we toured the t-shirt section he pointed out all the t-shirts that were "no good".
While we were at Target my little brother called to ask Austin to return his Batman sign so he could get a grade for it in shop class. My thirteen year old brother made a good-sized Batman sign for Austin in his shop class, which now sits proudly on top of our bookshelf. Austin loves it. While they spoke on the phone I had a flashback moment to July when I threw Austin a Spiderman party for his 26th birthday. I had all the paper plates, cups, Spiderman birthday card and gift bag at the checkout counter and the woman asked, "do you have a son who loves Spiderman?" , the exchange that followed was slightly awkward, but had me smiling the rest of the day!
