Life + Baseball + Contacts = Cousin IT

On ocassion Austin likes to play his MLB video game on our PlayStation. He has his own character and gets to sign contracts and play through seasons on a team. Well he's gotten quite good and recently has won the last five world series, and has been the MVP all five times. He holds every batting title possible and is pretty much the greatest baseball player to ever play the game. Last week he was negotiating a new contract and was very excited to see what kind of money teams would offer him. Much to his dismay the highest offer was for 8 million over four seasons. He was beside himself. He consistently brought it up for the next three days.
"I am the greatest ball player to ever live and they should be offering me 25 million per season!!" I kept assuring him that 8 million dollars would allow our family to live quite comfortably, but this didn't seem to be of much comfort. "All those teams are crazy, I mean that's ridiculous, think of all the great things our family could do with 25 million a year..."
So I started thinking about it, and then I remembered that Austin is studying to be a choir teacher and I still work part time as a waitress... :)
Sometimes Austin makes these wonderful life discoveries, he recently made this one:
I was sitting in bed reading, when he came into the bedrooom, "I've worn contacts since I was eleven. I bet I've taken my contacts out thousands of times. Yep, I bet I've taken my contacts out over a thousand times, isn't that crazy??" I agreed that this was quite remarkable and went back to my book.
Sometimes I try to imagine what our children will look like. I see all these cute babies and I hope mine will score at least a 5 on the 1-10 cuteness scale that most definitely exists (if not in the concrete world, then most assuredly in the abstract). Austin and I both have nice eyes, so maybe our children will have pretty eyes. We both like music so hopefully our children will be musical. Neither of us did anything too crazy growing up so I think we deserve non-crazy children. However, of all these things I think about there is always ONE trait that stands out above all others: HAIRY...yes our children will be hairy. I mean Austin started shaving daily at the age of 13, and if I don't wax every two weeks, I'm left with one long thick eyebrow and a mustache to rival Tom Selleck. We both have very healthy heads of hair. So our children will probably come out looking like Cousin IT or the Missing Link. And who is going to notice all the good qualities our children have, if they are walking fur balls? Maybe we could adopt.

  1. Ha. I love it. I think I'd rather have hairy children than the little hellians mac and I will have (he was such a crazy child I know Karma is going to come back to bite us in the butt!!) P.S. This is jaime...I'm just on mac's account. :)

  2. Nicole, you were one of the cutest babies ever and you had hair on your ears when you were born. So, hair and cute can go together.

If Austin made $25 million, I'll bet he'd build Zach a tennis court.
